Day 7/27

Today was my first day at AIS3. I was very excited about staying with my roommates—I have great expectations for what my college life might be like.

After driving for an hour, I arrived at NCTU. I signed in and went to my apartment. Since I was already late, I assumed I would be the last to arrive at my room. I knocked on the door and waited for about a minute, but there was no response. I knocked again and waited for another two minutes, still no sound. Finally, I decided to try opening the door myself. Surprisingly, it wasn’t even locked—and even more unexpectedly, I was the first one in the room!

You might think my roommates were simply running later than me, but actually, that wasn’t the case. When I signed in at the Computer Science building, I saw that all four of my roommates had already signed in and taken their keys, so logically they should have been in the room. That was what I initially thought, but strangely, I didn’t see any luggage or belongings, and I had no idea where they could possibly be. I mean, when you sign in, the staff clearly tells you your room number, so there was no way I was mistaken.

Anyway, I decided not to think about it too much. At least I got first choice of beds! While setting up my space, one of my roommates finally arrived. He’s a fifth-year college student, and we chatted a lot about what he studies and various other things.

Eventually, it was time for dinner. Unfortunately, my roommate already had plans to eat with his friends, so I decided to walk to the nearest convenience store, grab some food, and wait back in our room—without air conditioning—for our other two missing roommates. After about an hour, they finally showed up. And guess what? They told me they had accidentally gone to the wrong room. I couldn’t believe it—how was that possible?

It turned out the staff had given us the wrong room information along with the wrong air conditioner ID card. Honestly, the entire situation left me speechless. After all that confusion, we spent the rest of the evening talking, playing games, and hanging out. That’s how my first day went.
